Full-rate eligibility from 2022 on

A general rule applies from 2022 on: Members must have accrued 30 years in order to qualify for a full-rate pension, except for those who come under a transitional measure. Air crew members who claim their pension on or after age 60 will continue to qualify for a pension with no rate reduction, even if they have not accrued the required benchmark career length for a full-rate pension.

The transitional measure

The Board of Directors has decided to propose to our oversight authority that we expand the transitional period set forth by the 2011 reform as an exception to the 30-year rule.

This expansion would allow air crew members born prior to 1971 who claim their entitlements on or after age 55 to qualify for the full rate once they have accrued a benchmark number of years that is determined by their year of birth.

Once a decree has been published confirming the Board’s proposed measures, pension claim rules for qualifying air crew members are expected to be as follows:

Air crew members born in or after 1971 or claiming their entitlements prior to age 55 must have accrued 30 years to their accounts to qualify for a full-rate pension.

Reminder

The twofold eligibility requirement for a full-rate pension which has applied since 2012 (the applicant must meet the benchmark values both for combined age + years accrued and for age and/or years accrued) will end in late 2021.
