COVID-19: a special measure for air transportation businesses

France’s Retirement Pension fund for Professional Air Crew in Civil Aviation (CRPNPAC) has adopted a special measure to support businesses in the airline industry.

In light of the serious financial difficulties which the COVID-19 epidemic is causing the air transportation industry, CRPNPAC’s Chairman called an emergency meeting of the Board of Directors, which has unanimously adopted a special measure designed to support and work with businesses in the airline industry, which have been particularly hard-hit by the current ongoing crisis.

Pursuant to this decision, employers who have paid their employee’s contributions on time for their air crew members will be granted automatic forgiveness for all late penalties that would normally apply to their employer’s contributions if those have not been paid on time.

This special measure applies to employers’ contributions due on periods of air crew employment from February 1st, 2020 through June 30, 2020.

In practical terms, businesses who take advantage of this special emergency measure will get an extension to the payment deadline for their employer’s contributions, which has now been pushed back to November 25, 2020.

The Chair of CRPNPAC’s Board of Directors is monitoring how the situation is affecting businesses in the industry in real time. The Board of Directors has the ability to extend this special program for as long as is necessary.

Michel Janot, Chair of CRPNPAC’s Board of Directors, has this to say:  “This new measure demonstrates the ability of France’s Retirement Pension fund for Professional Air Crew in Civil Aviation to support and work with businesses in the industry, and in so doing, to safeguard our members’ pension entitlements along with industry jobs.”
