Recommended read: a new book about flight engineers

Jean-Claude Pitra provides a definitive account of the work of the Flight Engineer, who has been cast out of the cockpit by the latest technologies.
Jean-Claude Pitra, a helicopter avionics specialist with French Navy Aviation and the Istres flight testing center, entered France’s Fleet Mechanic Apprentice School (EAMF) at age 15 and helped to create the Flight Engineer’s Degree and License in Civil Aviation, which prepare flight engineers to become pilots, before going on to join Air France and then Air Madagascar.

Get carried away by this account: “Engine, chocks off…and takeoff!”
